Orange Walk Chess Tournament 2025

On the 13th December 2025 at the Louisiana Government school in Orange Walk 11 players from Orange Walk, Corozal, San Ignacio (Saint Ignatius Chess Club) and Belize City competed in the Orange Walk Chess tournament 2025.


National Arbiter Mr. John Newport served as both and player and tournament director for the event.


The tournament had the recently crowned National Masters, NM Michael Campos who earned the title by winning the 2025 Challengers tournament and NM Cristobal Campos who won the Belize Grand Swiss 2025 ahead of the reigning National Champion.

Despite also going undefeated, a draw in round 1 against Elton McLaughlin means Kenet Perez scores 2nd place.

NM Cristobal Campos had a disappointing event but still managed to earn 3rd place. Mr. Elton McLaughlin, who won the challengers section of the Belize Grand Swiss 2025 gains 14 rating point and had a great draw against Kenet Perez in round 1.

In the challengers section, we had 4 players from the Saint Ignatius Chess Club join the event along with Orange Walk Local Christiana Perez.

Local Christiana Perez won against Saint Ignatius Chess Club Kristy Tillett in a tiebreak match they played to determine 2nd place.
